Sunny side UP, please!

People rock.

[To be honest with you, My motto is usually "People Suck."
That's how I explain away the people (and by people I'm usually just talking about one specific person...*He Who Must Not Be Named*) that hurt me or just make choices that I can't even begin to comprehend.]

I'm [unfortunately] a facebook junkie, and sometimes I get really frustrated with people just complaining about the negative or unfortunate things that happen in their life.
Trust me when I say that I 100% get it.

However, I get reallllllly excited when people are positive about their circumstances, whatever they may be.

A couple of people I'd like to give a shoutout to for being awesomely optimistic today:
My sister, Ashley Mackey:

"Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you deal with it."
It's SO true. a Hannah Montana song comes to mind, "Life's what you make it, so let's make it rock!"

Next, is Tatum Parker. She and I were good friends back in like 4th grade, and she might not know that I'm quoting her, but hopefully she doesn't mind :)

"You were given this life, because you are strong enough to live it."
When I read this, it really hit home for a couple reasons.
-A Scripture [unsure of the reference] that says something along the lines of, 'We will not be tried above that which we are able.'
I truely believe that the Lord will only give us trials that we are able to overcome.
-When *He Who Must Not Be Named* first left, this was my only source of comfort. Knowing that the Lord was not going to put me into any circumstances that I couldn't overcome was a HUGE boost to my self-worth and seriously helped me move on.

Thank you to all my wonderful facebook friends that stay on the sunny side of the street. :)

Zero To Hero

Everyday when we wake up, we have a choice.

We are faced with one ultimate choice that will define not just our day, but our outlook on life, ourselves, and how we view other people and the environments around us.

 Zero? or Hero?

When I look in the mirror every morning, I have to make a choice. I have to decide, "Is today going to be a good day? or am I going to let the day win me over?"

I have to be honest, the latter prevails too often. I come home from a nine-ten hour work day and a three hour long class (plus the hour and a half driving time)  and I'm SHOT. All I want to do is crawl in my bed and forget the day existed. I never think about what I learned that day or how I've grown, all I'm ever thinking about is myself and how I can make my immediate dissatisfaction better.

My sister came in to town this week and I've gotten to see how she functions on a daily basis. In the back of my mind, I think I always knew that it was crazy for her, but watching her function with her 5 kids, (two still in diapers) and taking on her second at-home job, my eyes have been opened. To say the least.

Despite puke on her shirt, kids to be bathed and fed, work to be done, dishes to be cleaned, and SO MUCH MORE, the woman still manages to keep a smile on her face and a prayer in her heart. (UNBELIEVABLE)

The point behind all of this rambling is that she's a real and true hero. She probably won't ever be on the news, she won't ever get her own personally designed cape with rocking super-hero emblem on it, and very rarely will she even get a simple "Thanks, mom."
But she does it all anyways.

I think that if we all tried to be as *invinsible* as her, we could surely become a hero to someone in our lives each day.

So tomorrow, when I wake up and look in the mirror, I'm going to ignore the flaws. I'm going to look past the extra pounds I want to lose, the zits on my face, the people that have hurt me, and places I should be and focus on how I can go from Zero to Hero for just one day.
